New York Giants legend Michael Strahan slammed by fans for waving Eagles flag and singing rival's song

A beloved member of the New York Giants who won the team a Super Bowl is being blasted by his own fans for a stunt he pulled prior to Super Bowl LIX.

Michael Strahan, a Pro Football Hall-of-Famer who was a key player in the team’s Super Bowl XLII victory, did a segment with Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley.

Barkley, who was drafted by the Giants and played with them up until he hit free agency this offseason, was speaking with Strahan in a pre-recorded segment on a riverboat.

But Barkley carried an Eagles flag with him on this trip – which he appeared to offer up to Strahan to wave. It’s not clear what the context was from the clips circulating on social media.

Regardless of the context, the fans were irate after Strahan took the flag of a division rival and started waving it.

‘He is such a special man, come on, we gon’ Fly Eagles Fly for Saquon Barkley cause I respect and love this man so much,’ Strahan said.

Not only was the waving of the flag a sticking point for Giants fans, but he also said ‘Fly Eagles Fly’ – the name of Philadelphia’s fight song.

Multiple fans took to social media to express their displeasure with one of their franchise legends supporting another team.

‘This has to be the worst year if you’re a giant fan in your life,’ wrote one user on X, formerly Twitter.

Another user said, ‘Yeahhhh that’s not gonna go over well.. lol.’ A different post read, ‘Unretire his number.’

One irate fan posted, ‘this is the worst season in franchise history i don’t give a f*** anymore.’

Strahan is in the Hall of Fame – having played for the Giants from 1993-2007. He won NFL Defensive Player of the Year with them in 2001 and is a four-time All-Pro first-teamer.

His No. 92 has been retired by the Giants and has been inducted into the franchise’s Ring of Honor.
