NFL star announces he is spending a week with a tribe in the Amazon... and then moans about the WiFi

Miami Dolphins safety Jordan Poyer embarked on an immersive journey with an Amazonian tribe but was not thrilled about the lack of WiFi in the jungle.

Earlier this week, the 33-year-old went on Instagram to inform his family, friends, and followers of his whereabouts before falling out of the grid and into life with the tribe.

In a prolonged Instagram story statement, Poyer also expressed his excitement for the venture he was about to take on.

‘Family and friends, I hope this message finds you well,’ he wrote. ‘I wanted to take a moment to share something exciting happening in my life. I am embarking on a week-long journey to the Amazon, where I will be spending time with the Yawanawa tribe.’

‘This experience is an opportunity for me to disconnect from the modern world, immerse myself in a different culture and focus on personal growth.’

‘During this week, I will have limited access to communication, so I may not be able to reply to messages or calls. I am looking forward to this adventure and the lessons it will bring, and I appreciate your understanding and support during my absence.’

‘Please take care of yourselves and I’ll be sure to share stories and experiences with you upon my return. With love and graтιтude, JP.’

On Friday morning, Poyer posted a few pH๏τos from his immersion on his Instagram story and noted the weakness of the WiFi signal in the tribe’s location.

Posting snaps of himself playing soccer with the tribe’s children, Poyer wrote ‘Wifi signal in the Amazon is crazy. I won’t be here much but had to share a few sH๏τs.’

Poyer is no stranger to immersive, self-exploration trips as he was said to be on an Ahayuasca trip in Costa Rica with New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

During one of their escapades in 2024, Poyer posted a pH๏τo of himself with Rodgers in the Central American nation.

‘When we look within & heal our own wounds, we contribute to the healing of the planet by shifting the collective consciousness towards greater love, empathy, & sustainability,’ he captioned.

Poyer wrapped up his 13th season in the NFL and first with Miami tallying 51 solo and 47 ᴀssisted tackles as the Dolphins went 8-9 and missed the playoffs.
