The Marvel Cinematic Universe is officially getting its Spider-Man 4 as star Tom Holland has confirmed filming begins in summer 2025.

Holland finally confirmed the Spider-Man: No Way Home sequel on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, saying plainly that “it’s happening.” Though various figures at Marvel Studios have commented on a potential fourth Spider-Man film for some time, this is the first official word that it’s definitely coming.

“Next summer we start shooting,” Holland said. “Everything’s good to go. We’re nearly there. It’s super exciting; I can’t wait.”

No details on what Spider-Man 4 will be about were shared, though it will presumably follow on from where the last film left off. Holland has previously said a script for the film “lit a fire in him” and spoke on his desire to bring Into the Spider-Verse protagonist Miles Morales into the MCU too.

“If I would be lucky enough to somehow bring Miles Morales into my Spider-Man universe and into the MCU, I’d love to do for a young kid what [Robert Downey Jr.] did for me,” he said.

The last film left off, and spoiler warning for the ending of Spider-Man: No Way home, rather tragically. After ripping a hole in the multiverse, Holland’s Spider-Man had to erase himself from the minds of everyone he loved to fix it, meaning his girlfriend MJ, best friend Ned, and everyone else in the world never knew he existed.

The final scene sees Holland’s Peter Parker moving into his own dingy apartment in New York City in scenes reminiscent of Tobey Maguire’s original Spider-Man film, perhaps setting up a smaller scale, more boots on the ground adventure than the galaxy and multiverse spanning escapades he’s been on recently.

This would certainly be a fitting setting for Morales to appear, as the character usually emerges as a younger and bungling Spider-Man alongside the older Parker. Fans will just have to wait and see how the film unfolds, however, and given how good Marvel Studios was at covering up the roles of Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Men in the last film, it might be a while before its biggest plot points are unveiled.
