Jason Kelce’s three-year ESPN deal came with a mᴀssive payday

Jason Kelce secured a three-year, $24 million contract with ESPN when he inked a deal in April to become a “Monday Night Countdown” analyst for the network, according to The Athletic.

His salary was revealed in an article about who the next $100 million NFL analyst could be, with the outlet floating Rams head coach Sean McVay, Chiefs тιԍнт end Travis Kelce, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin, CBS’ J.J. Watt and Fox’s Greg Olsen as options.

Jason Kelce transitioned to broadcasting after his retirement following the 2023 campaign — which capped a 13-year playing career with the Eagles in which he pieced together a Hall of Fame case — and immediately drew interest from NBC, CBS and Amazon Prime, the outlet reported at the time.

But he settled on ESPN, calling it at the time a “tremendous honor to even be considered to potentially work there.”

“I did my due diligence, you want to make sure you’re really looking at things, talking to people that are knowledgeable in the industry — neither one of us have ever done something like this,” Kelce said in April during an episode of “New Heights,” the podcast he hosts with his brother. “Throughout the whole process, meeting and talking to everyone over at ESPN, it became apparent that it was really the right fit and at the end of the day, something that I’m really, really looking forward to this next phase.”

Kelce has been a mainstay on the pregame show ahead of “Monday Night Football” games, and the network also launched a late-night talk show — “They Call It Late Night with Jason Kelce” — that debuted Jan. 4.

“New Heights” officially launched in September 2022 and landed a $100 million deal with Amazon in August, adding to the lore of the Kelce brothers in the media space and becoming a vessel for the pair to discuss Travis Kelce’s relationship with singer Taylor Swift.

The first two years of the podcast coincided with the Chiefs’ first two Super Bowls secured during their latest run, and they’ll have a chance to become the first team to three-peat in the Super Bowl era when they face the Eagles in New Orleans on Sunday.

Even though his brother plays for Kansas City and will likely have a major role as Patrick Mahomes’ top target, Jason Kelce said on a “New Heights” episode last year that he would root for Philadelphia in a hypothetical Chiefs-Eagles matchup.
