In 2002, the Lakers won their third consecutive NBA тιтle, thanks mainly to the trio of Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O’Neal and head coach Phil Jackson.

It was the third time in little more than a decade an NBA team pulled off the feat, as Michael Jordan and the Bulls — also coached by Jackson — did it twice from 1991-93 and 1996-98.

And it wasn’t just in the NBA, as the Yankees followed the Bulls’ success and won three straight World Series from 1998-2000, while coming up a win short of a fourth in a row in 2001.

But since that triple by the Lakers ended in 2002, no major American pro sports team has accomplished the feat.
