Patrick Mahomes reveals how fatherhood has changed his life following birth of third child ahead of Super Bowl

Patrick Mahomes gushed about the joys of fatherhood on Super Bowl Opening Night, claiming he ‘can’t have a bad day’ when he comes home to his three children.

The Chiefs quarterback and his wife, Brittany, welcomed their third child, daughter  Golden Raye, to the world on January 12. The couple already shared daughter Sterling Skye, 3, and son Bronze (Patrick III), 2.

And ahead of Kansas City’s clash vs. the Eagles this weekend, the 29-year-old spoke about the effect his kids have had on his life.

‘I think more than anything it gives me that perspective on life,’ he told reporters.

‘I might have bad days, but I go home and see that smile on that face – man you can’t have a bad day, because you know you’re a father at the end of the day.

Mahomes’ eldest two children have already seen him win a pair of Super Bowls, while he and his Chiefs’ teammates will be looking to complete a historic three-peat at the expense of Philadelphia.

The quarterback was also around pro sports as a child, as his father, Pat Sr., was a professional baseball player for 11 years.

‘Being able to win these games, I was the kid in the locker room with my dad, and I have so many great memories,’ he said.

‘And for them to be able to experience the Super Bowl and hopefully get that confetti on the field – those will be moments that I have, and moments we’ll have for the rest of their life.’

Mahomes had said on Christmas Day that Brittany was due to give birth imminently and joked that he hoped it was during his team’s first-round playoff bye

Speaking after his team beat the Steelers on Dec. 25, a win that gave his team an extra week off, Mahomes said, ‘I told my pregnant wife I was gonna get her the number one seed so we can go have that baby. So we got that number one seed.’

In just his seventh season as a starter, Mahomes will play in his fifth Super Bowl this weekend and has helped his team achieve dynasty status in Kansas City.

But he knows nothing is promised going forward.

‘I know that it’s a special run that we’ve been on,’ he said.

‘Every time I’m here at media night, or on this football field in the Super Bowl I’m gonna appreciate those moments. Because you never know when will be your last one.
