Supercomputer predicts the Super Bowl winner, score and MVP before Kansas City Chiefs face Philadelphia Eagles

Supercomputer predicts the Super Bowl winner, score and MVP before Kansas City Chiefs face Philadelphia Eagles

If technology is to be believed, then congratulations to the Kansas City Chiefs on becoming the first team to win three consecutive Super Bowls.

A supercomputer has predicted that the Chiefs have a 58.4 percent chance of lifting the Vince Lombardi Trophy on Sunday night, with the Eagles chances’ of dethroning the two-time consecutive champs standing below 42 percent.

The Super Bowl supercomputer also has predicted the most-likely final score seeing another field-goal difference between the teams in the biggest game of the year, a 30-27 victory, per Action Network.

The average predicted score is 25.8 to 23.5 in favor of the Chiefs, with less than three points separating the teams.

Many expect the Super Bowl to be close, as Kansas City has not scored more than 32 points in a game this season, which was the AFC Championship Game against the Buffalo Bills.

Kansas City has also won once this season by more than 14 points, a Week 17 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers by a 29-10 final score.

The supercomputer has also targeted Patrick Mahomes as the likely Super Bowl MVP, which would be his fourth-such honor if the Chiefs quarterback makes the prediction reality.

Mahomes has a 47.2 percent chance of winning the game’s most valuable player award, per the supercomputer.

The Eagles’ duo of Saquon Barkley and Jalen Hurts have the second and third-best chances at the award with 22.6 and 14.8 percent chances respectively.

That leaves only 15.4 percent of scenarios where one of the other 103 players on the field take home the award, including Travis Kelce, who has the fourth-best odds at 3.3 percent.

AJ Brown is the only other player on either team to have odds greater than a percent to win Super Bowl MVP at 1.8%.

Consecutive Super Bowls have never gone to overtime, with the supercomputer only giving 3.4 percent odds of that occurring.

The most common outcomes after 30-27 in favor of the Chiefs all see Kansas City winning by less than a touchdown.

Kansas City wins of 25-22, 27-22, 27-24, and 29-26 are the next most likely in order.

The Chiefs winning by less than a touchdown played out in 22.7 percent of scenarios, with 19.9 percent of games ending with the Chiefs winning by a touchdown through a 13-point victory.

Only 0.11 percent of scenarios saw the Chiefs winning in a 34-point-or-greater blowout.
