Travis Kelce delivers surprise message to Eagles fans before Super Bowl 2025

For the first and likely only two times before Super Bowl 2025, Travis Kelce uttered the words “go birds.”

Kelce, the star Chiefs тιԍнт end, appeared on “They Call It Late Night with Jason Kelce” on Friday, and at one point during his interview, his brother asked Kelce if he had a message for Eagles fans before the teams collide in the Super Bowl for the second time in three seasons.

“Go Birds, baby,” Kelce joked as he cracked a smile, before Jason replied, “You don’t mean that.”

“I’m a Jason Kelce fanatic, dude,” Kelce, who joined the show via video, continued. “I love that guy, man. I still got all the gang green from your guys’ Super Bowls and your run in Philly. I still got some Philly pride, man. I’m wishing the best for those guys, but go birds.”

Then, Jason — in his first season of hosting the late-night talk show for ESPN, where he also serves as a “Monday Night Countdown” analyst — added again at the end that “there’s absolutely no chance you mean that.”

Jason retired after the end of the 2023 season, but when the Eagles and Chiefs met in the Super Bowl two years ago, it doubled as the Kelce Bowl.

Donna Kelce, their mother, wore a split jersey with half featuring Jason’s jersey and half for Travis’s No. 87.

The Chiefs escaped with a narrow, three-point win — with Kelce contributing six catches, 81 yards and a touchdown — to kickstart a stretch of dominance that sits just one win shy of becoming the first team to three-peat in the Super Bowl era.

But even if Kelce was able to joke about rooting for the Eagles, Jason likely wouldn’t be able to do the same with Kansas City.

During an episode of “New Heights” last year, Jason said he’d continue to root for the Eagles instead of the Chiefs in Super Bowls, even after his retirement ended a 13-year career.

“Because I will always be an Eagle,” Kelce said during the podcast last year. “First and foremost. I’ll also root for Travis to have a good game, of course, ’cause he’s my brother, but nah, I’ll definitely be cheering on the Eagles.”
