Andy Reid has two-word response to Chiefs-refs favoritism claims

Andy Reid isn’t buying any of the chatter about the alleged favoritism his Chiefs have been getting.

The Kansas City coach was asked about them when he was on “The Pat McAfee Show” on Wednesday, a few days removed from his team’s AFC Championship win over the Bills.

The game wasn’t without its fair share of controversy, which included a questionable spot late in the game that ended the Bills’ hopes of winning and an Xavier Worthy catch that was deemed suspect by a number of fans watching.

McAfee broached the subject in typical McAfee fashion by making a joke about it.

“You and the refs are meeting like what, tonight, for the Super Bowl? Is that what’s happening?” the sports media personality joked.

“Yeah right,” Reid replied back matter of factly.

“Listen, I try not to pay attention to any of that stuff,” he added.

Several others connected to the organization have pushed back on the idea that the Chiefs have been successful due to the refs helping them.

Among those included the wife of team owner Clark Hunt, Tavia, who addressed the matter in a post on social media.

“By God’s grace we’ve had success, but it’s not ‘black magic’ or referee favoritism (look at the stats on this) — it’s lots of hard work, belief, and purpose,” she wrote. “[Quarterback] Patrick Mahomes leads with humility and puts God first. Marcellus Casey, our team chaplain, pours into players and their families through weekly Bible studies and prayer. Many of our players— [linebacker] Drew [sic] Tranquil, [kicker] Harrison Butker, [defensive tackle] Chris Jones, [linebacker] Nick Bolton, [guard] Trey Smith and more—openly share their faith, lifting each other up on and off the field…”

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes also defended the refs ahead of the AFC championship game.

Regardless of the perception, the Chiefs will fight for their third consecutive Super Bowl тιтle in New Orleans when they face the Eagles. No team in NFL history has won three-straight Super Bowls
