Jason Kelce’s rooting interest in Super Bowl decided long before Chiefs-Eagles rematch

Jason Kelce’s rooting interest in Super Bowl decided long before Chiefs-Eagles rematch

Who will Jason Kelce be rooting for in Super Bowl 2025 in less than two weeks time?

An “New Heights” podcast clip from last March could hold the answer to that question, with a rematch of the 2023 Super Bowl taking place this year with the Chiefs and Eagles slated to battle it out for a тιтle in New Orleans.

Kelce played 13 seasons in the NFL – all for the Eagles – before retiring in March 2024.

It had been safe to wonder whether his allegiance would be for the Chiefs this year since his brother and podcast co-host Travis plays for Kansas City.

But, Kelce had seemingly given his answer last year on the podcast when a listener had submitted a query for the “No Dumb Questions” segment of their show.

“I will root for the Eagles, of course,” Kelce said, answering who he would root for if the Eagles and Chiefs played in the Super Bowl in 2025.

“This is bulls–t,” Travis chimed in.

“Because I will always be an Eagle,” Kelce continued. “First and foremost. I’ll also root for Travis to have a good game, of course, cause he’s my brother, but nah, I’ll definitely be cheering on the Eagles.”

The answer seemed to disappoint Travis a bit, but it will be interesting to see if Kelce will be sticking by his words.

Kelce had reported from the Eagles’ win over the Commanders on Sunday afternoon and then hopped on a flight to Kansas City and made it in time to see Travis and the Chiefs defeat the Bills that evening.

Kelce had even been spotted wearing a No. 87 Travis Kelce jersey at the game.

The former Eagles center told an audience member at his ESPN late-night show that he was “torn” about being able to be at both games.

“This is something that I’m still trying to figure out, so I’m working [for] ESPN at the tailgate for the Birds game,” he said. “Initially, they were gonna make me go up to Bristol, but then they were like, ‘Do you just want to stay down there and be a reporter on the scene?’ I’m really fired up to be there.”
