For most of the 2010s, everyone hoped that the Patriots would just go away.

And then everybody got their wish.

There’s some kind of lesson there, and we all learned it again on Sunday. The Chiefs will face the Eagles in Super Bowl LIX after each beat the Bills and Commanders, respectively.

It is the Chiefs’ chance to cement their dynasty as perhaps the greatest ever; it is the Eagles’ chance to topple them. It is the same cast of characters you already know on one side — Mahomes, Kelce, Reid, Jones — and the running back Giants fans would like to forget on the other.
