Chiefs’ Xavier Worthy gets Bills revenge after NFL draft trade

Xavier Worthy got his revenge on the Bills.

The Chiefs wide receiver was the team’s leading pᴀss-catcher in Sunday’s AFC Championship game win at Arrowhead Stadium, coming up with a touchdown and an impressive — if not controversial — catch that led to another Kansas City touchdown as the team clinched its spot in Super Bowl 2025.

Worthy finished the game with 85 receiving yards on six catches, possibly powered by the fact that he wanted to show the Bills what they missed out on by not selecting him in last year’s draft.

The Bills ended up trading draft picks, moving back to 32nd and allowing the Chiefs to jump up to 28th overall.

The Chiefs took Worthy and set the stage for his big effort on Sunday.

Going into the AFC Championship game, Worthy had told reporters that the decision by Buffalo was one that still was on his mind.

“I mean, I take it as a blessing and I feel like it’s a sign that they didn’t want me,” Worthy said to reporters leading up to the game, according to Sports Illustrated. “At the end of the day, I’m going to play with my chip on my shoulder. This game means a little bit more. Obviously, it’s the AFC Championship game, but this is a team that traded their pick away to get somebody else.”

History has a way of working out sometimes and that was clearly the case for Worthy, who will now have the chance to play for a Super Bowl in the coming weeks when Kansas City goes for its third consecutive championship.

The Bills will be left to figure out what went wrong as they came up short yet again after being one of the best teams in the NFL.

The 2025 Super Bowl will be a rematch of the 2023 Super Bowl when the Chiefs defeated the Eagles.
