New Yorkers suffer meltdown as Empire State Building pays tribute to Eagles after they booked Super Bowl spot

Shortly after the Philadelphia Eagles clinched their place in the Super Bowl, the Empire State Building, lit up green and white to anger those who live in New York.

The Empire State Building is arguably the most iconic venue in New York, as the 100-story venue resides in the heart of Midtown Manhattan.

New Yorkers gridiron priorities are split between the Giants and the Jets.

The Giants are division rivals with the Eagles, while their biggest star from last season, Saquon Barkley, is headed to his first Super Bowl with Philadelphia.

It was only adding insult to injury to see the top of the iconic structure lit up in green and white.

And New Yorkers couldn’t help but air their frustrations publicly.

‘Are u joking lol’ one New Yorker said.

‘What a disgrace. Clearly the person in charge of this is not a sports fan,’ another football fan said.

‘Jets fans will take this,’ one person said, pointing out the color-scheme similarities between the Jets and Eagles.

‘This is a disgrace…..’ another Empire State resident said.

‘That is a damn shame,’ another New Yorker concluded.

The winner of the AFC Championship Game will also have their colors on the top of the Empire State Building after the game’s conclusion.

Philadelphia defeated another division rival, the Washington Commanders, to reach its second Super Bowl in three seasons.

The Empire State Building routinely finds ways to light up the top of its structure, such as red and green designs on Christmas.
