Philadelphia mayor Cherelle Parker speaks out on embarrᴀssing Eagles spelling blunder

Philadelphia mayor Cherelle Parker knows that video of her botching an Eagles chant before Philadelphia’s 28-22 victory over the Rams in their NFC divisional round game last Sunday went viral.

Parker misspelled “Eagles” by chanting “E-L-G-S-E-S Eagles!” and was roundly criticized for the blunder.

She made light of the situation and laughed at her mistake on Tuesday.

“We don’t promise perfection, I’m so happy I never have, especially after I couldn’t spell Eagles right,” Parker said during a press conference.

It prompted laughter from the crowd ahead of Sunday’s NFC Championship game between the Eagles and the Commanders at Lincoln Financial Field.

Parker’s spelling gaffe, which occurred hours before the divisional round game, made waves online.

The buzz even reached 106.7 the Fan, a local radio station in D.C., which sold T-shirts with the message, “FLY ELGSES FLY” in Commanders colors.

“Don’t be trying to jinx us by putting a L in Eagles,” one person wrote.

“How does she not know this?” another added.

Parker had a week to practice the chant after the Eagles punched their ticket to the conference championship.
