Ex-Browns lineman Lonnie Phelps learns his fate in DUI case after crashing into restaurant

Former Cleveland Browns defensive lineman Lonnie Phelps pleaded no contest to one charge of misdemeanor driving under the influence in Florida on Tuesday after officials claimed he was “wasted” when he slammed his vehicle into a restaurant in Key West.

Phelps was sentenced to one year of probation, transferable to Ohio, will have his license suspended for six months and will have to perform 50 hours of community service as well as attend DUI school, per Monroe County court documents viewed by The Post.

The Browns waived Phelps in June after the incident in which he appeared drunk on camera with his SUV being wedged into the side of the Red Shoe Island Bistro, causing a reported $300,000 in damages.

Should he complete all conditions of his plea agreement, which includes not consuming alcohol or any other drugs and paying $1,000 in fines as well as court costs, Phelps is eligible to have his probation terminated early after just six months.

Phelps, 23, refused to cooperate with responding officers and was placed under arrest, calling the officers “bitch ᴀss” and accusing them of trying to push him off balance when asked to do sobriety tests.

Phelps, who has not been signed by another NFL team, was an undrafted rookie in 2023, having spent his rookie year on the Browns’ practice squad.
