тιтans exec makes ‘generational’ claim with No. 1 pick in possible Travis Hunter hint

One word that isn’t used to the discuss the 2025 quarterbacks class is generational.

And that might offer a clue about whom the тιтans will target with the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

тιтans president of football operations Chad Brinker said Wednesday the team “won’t pᴀss on a generational talent,” per ESPN, a description that likely fits two-way phenom and Heisman winner Travis Hunter Jr. more than one of the top-ranked quarterbacks, such as Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward.

“It’s a pivotal moment for this team,” Brinker said of the upcoming draft.

The “generational” talent moniker perhaps gets thrown around too much in this day and age, but it’s an apt description for a player with Hunter’s unique skill set.

That’s not to say that Ward, Sanders or any other option won’t become a great player. They very much will have the chance to do so.

There are just some questions about this group and their individual ceilings, especially compared to last year’s star-studded class that featured Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels and Drake Maye, among others.

Neither Ward nor Sanders faced elite defenses while playing in their respective conferences and several draft analysts have noted that this year’s options would rank behind last year’s class.

Some have wondered if either are worth the No. 1 pick or whether they may be taken first just because teams are hard-pressed to pᴀss on a quarterback.

The тιтans, Browns and Giants, picking in the first three spots, respectively, each could use a quarterback.

There appear to be far fewer questions about Hunter and perhaps even top pᴀss rusher Abdul Carter from Penn State.

ESPN’s Mel Kiper ranks Hunter as the No. 1 prospect in the class and Carter at No. 2. Sanders comes in fourth and Ward is his fifth-rated player.

He also slots Hunter as both the top-ranked cornerback and receiver in the class.

A Heisman-winning player who can shut down receivers on the outside and also shine as a receiver would provide great value to NFL teams, even if he limits his involvement on one side of the ball.

Carter figures to add a great pᴀss rusher to any defense, which is a great ᴀsset in the modern NFL.

Despite the rankings, it’s certainly possible the тιтans find one of the quarterbacks in this class to truly be “generational” and take the plunge.

Kiper’s mock draft has the тιтans drafting Ward in what could be considered an upset.

The тιтans will surely call whomever they pick generational, even if the available evidence indicates that may just be one player.
