Where Jets’ GM search stands after hiring Aaron Glenn as coach

The Jets have their head coach.

Now, they have to find their general manager.

With Aaron Glenn finalizing his deal to become the new Jets head coach, the team will turn its attention to more second interviews for the GM job, according to a source.

Commanders ᴀssistant general manager Lance Newmark interviewed in Florham Park for the job on Tuesday.

He was the first candidate to get a second interview, which made people view him as the favorite to get the job.

Newmark worked with Glenn for three seasons with the Lions and was with Detroit for 26 seasons before joining the Commanders in 2024.

He left Florham Park without a deal, though, and the Jets plan on taking a look at some other candidates.

The team informed some candidates Monday that they were moving in a different direction.

This was seen as an indication the Jets were hiring Newmark, but the team was paring down its list of candidates. They did not tell all of the GM candidates they were out of the running.

Besides Newmark, the Jets interviewed the following candidates for the GM job: former Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff, former тιтans GM Jon Robinson, Senior Bowl Executive Director Jim Nagy, ESPN analyst Louis Riddick, Eagles ᴀssistant GM Alec Halaby, Rams senior personnel executive Ray Farmer, Buccaneers ᴀssistant GM Mike Greenberg, Broncos ᴀssistant GM Darren Mougey, Bengals senior personnel executive Trey Brown, Lions special ᴀssistant to the owner and CEO Chris Spielman, Vikings senior vice president of player personnel Ryan Grigson, Packers vice president of player personnel Jon-Eric Sullivan and Bills ᴀssistant GM Brian Gaine.

They also interviewed Chiefs ᴀssistant GM Mike Borgonzi, but he is off the board after taking the тιтans GM job.
