тιтans hiring top Chiefs exec Mike Borgonzi as next GM

The тιтans have a new general manager.

Chiefs ᴀssistant GM Mike Borgonzi will be hired to take over the job in Tennessee, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported on Friday.

Borgonzi has worked in the Kansas City front office for 16 seasons, dating back to 2009, working his way up from the franchise’s administrator of college scouting to the No. 2 job behind GM Brett Veach.

The Chiefs have had winning seasons in all but three with Borgonzi on board, including three Super Bowl wins and ten AFC West тιтles.

The Borgonzi hiring comes after the тιтans fired general manager Ran Carthon earlier this month after two years on the job.

Carthon had four years left on an extension he signed last offseason after seemingly winning a power struggle with head coach Mike Vrabel, who was let go by the team.

The тιтans went 9-25 over the last two seasons, including an NFL-worst 3-14 in 2024.

“It’s impossible to ignore that our football team hasn’t improved over the past two years,” Tennessee owner Amy Adams Strunk said in a statement after the firing. “I am deeply disappointed in our poor win-loss record during this period, of course, but my decision also speaks to my concern about our long-term future should we stay the course.”

Tennessee holds the top pick in April’s draft.

This season, 2023 second-round pick Will Levis struggled to man the quarterback position, which is a spot the franchise could look to fill with the top pick.

Borgonzi is expected to work alongside Tennessee president of football operations Chad Brinker, whom team president and CEO Burke Nihill said would “be the final authority on all football matters, including the roster.”
