Buffalo Bills reveal their plan to try and shut down Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens

The Buffalo Bills may have found a former Baltimore Ravens player that they believe could help them in their upcoming AFC Divisional round contest against them this weekend.

Earlier on Wednesday afternoon, the Bills signed former Ravens quarterback Anthony Brown to their practice squad.

While Brown has not been on the Ravens since the 2022 season, he could nevertheless prove helpful to Buffalo’s game plan for the upcoming playoff game.

Brown, who played college football at Boston College and Oregon, is a mobile quarterback that could be used as a duplicate of Lamar Jackson when the Bills run practices.

In the NFL, Brown has only one start and two games played. This came during a season where Jackson went down early due to injury.

His first appearance came after Baltimore’s then-backup Tyler Huntley went down with a concussion in Week 14 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Brown then started the Ravens’ regular season finale against the Cincinnati Bengals. His total NFL statline reads 22 completions on 49 attempts for 302 yards, no touchdowns, two interceptions, five sacks taken, and one fumble.

Since moving on from Baltimore, Brown has been on the practice squads of the Raiders, Bills, and Cardinals in 2024 – before being re-signed to Buffalo’s practice squad today.

It’s not likely that Brown will be included in the Bills’ gameday roster on Sunday – with no injuries reported for starting quarterback Josh Allen or backup Mitch Trubisky.

The Bills and Ravens have only met one time in the playoffs – doing so back in the Divisional round in the 2021 season.

There, Buffalo defeated Baltimore 17-3. They went on to lose to the Kansas City Chiefs 38-24.

The two teams met earlier this year back in Week 4 of the NFL season. Baltimore won that game 35-10 – with Jackson throwing for 156 yards and two touchdowns while running for 54 yards and one touchdown. By comparison, Allen only tossed for 180 yards and ran for 21 yards while scoring no touchdowns.

The biggest threat the Ravens had that day was running back Derrick Henry – who torched the Bills defense for 199 yards and a touchdown.
