Patrick Mahomes responds to claims he and Brittany could have a family of five after welcoming third child

Patrick Mahomes has hinted that he and Brittany may have more children after welcoming their third baby this week – but it won’t be anytime soon.

The couple announced the arrival of their second daughter, Golden Raye, on Monday – with her arrival perfectly timed to coincide with the Chiefs’ bye week before the NFL playoffs.

Mahomes was back to business on Tuesday for the Chiefs and faced the media ahead of Saturday’s showdown against Houston Texans at Arrowhead Stadium.

He was asked if he and childhood sweetheart Brittany wanted more children and didn’t rule it out.

‘My goal was always three. So we’ve had three,’ Mahomes answered. ‘We’ll stick there for a while and see if we need to come back and get another one later on.

‘It’s cool to welcome another baby girl in our family and see how our kids react to her. Having baby sissy and stuff like that.’

But Chiefs head coach Andy Reid – a father of five – encouraged Mahomes to have more kids.

Speaking before Mahomes on Tuesday, he said: ‘I think he does great with it.

‘Once you have three, four and five are easy. That’s what I told him. You’ve made three, you add a couple more, we’ll talk.’

The arrival of Mahomes’ third daughter this week means the Chiefs quarterback avoids any difficult decisions of family life overlapping with football and risking him missing a game to be there at the birth.

This year has extra significance for the Chiefs with Mahomes and his team pursuing a third straight Super Bowl тιтle.

‘I think every year is special,’ Mahomes said. ‘Obviously, you want to win three in a row and build those memories with the guys and the community. But every single year is special.

‘And when I look back at all the different Super Bowls that we’ve won, I look back at special moments that we’ve had and special games that we’ve had. And so, we’ll try to do the same this year.’

If the Chiefs beat the Texans, they will host the winner of the Buffalo Bills and Baltimore Ravens for a place in the Super Bowl.
