Cowboys next head coach odds: Where Deion Sanders, Bill Belichick stand

The betting market has spoken and Deion Sanders is the favorite to be the next Dallas Cowboys coach.

Reports circulated Monday that Jerry Jones had reached out to Coach Prime about the Cowboys’ vacancy, which immediately resulted in him becoming a +100 favorite to lead America’s team in 2025, according to DraftKings Sportsbook.

The second option is Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore at +25o odds, while Washington offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury is +350, both of whom profile as much more logical options for Dallas.

Sanders has coached for just two seasons at a major college program, the Colorado Boulders.

To his credit, he has turned the Buffaloes around, from 1-11 to 4-8 in his first year and 9-4 in his second.

Sanders previously said the only way he would consider leaving Colorado for the NFL is the opportunity to coach his sons, Shedeur and Shilo Sanders.

This could present a major roadblock since Dallas, owning the 12th pick, is likely not in position to draft Shedeur, who could the top selection.

There’s an obscene amount of options posted by DraftKings in this market, perhaps more than any other “next team” market we’ve seen at the sportsbook.

There are currently 59 coaching possibilities available in this betting market.

Some of the wilder possibilities are 83-year-old Bill Parcells (+650), 78-year-old Tom Coughlin, CBS broadcaster Tony Romo and Michael Irvin, among many others who come in at 100/1.

You’ll also see Mike Tomlin at 80/1 to be the next Cowboys coach, as Jimmie Johnson previously suggested a coach swap with former coach Mike McCarthy.

Betting on the NFL?

Tomlin is currently the head coach for the Steelers, but it would certainly be possible that Tomlin could find himself being hired by Jones if Pittsburgh looks to move off its head coach since 2007.

Meanwhile, Jason Witten is +850 to be the next Cowboys coach, as Jones has made it clear he is flirting with the idea of bringing in a former player to be his coach.

You may remember that Jason Garrett led the Cowboys beginning in 2010 after he spent much of the 1990s serving as the backup quarterback for Troy Aikman during golden era of Dallas football.

Texas coach Steve Sarkisian is the seventh favorite to take a look at the Cowboys coaching gig (+750), while USC coach Lincoln Riley comes in at 18/1.

Riley had previously been a top candidate to be the Cowboys coach before McCarthy accepted the job in 2019 and could rekindle old flirtations this offseason.
