Ashton Jeanty reveals which team he wants to play for ahead of NFL Draft: ‘It would be a dream come true’

Ashton Jeanty reveals which team he wants to play for ahead of NFL Draft: 'It would be a dream come true'

After putting up one of the greatest seasons a running back has ever had in college football, Boise State rusher Ashton Jeanty has turned his eyes to the NFL.

Jeanty and the Broncos qualified for the College Football Playoff, but were eliminated by Penn State during the Fiesta Bowl.

Now, after declaring for the NFL Draft, Jeanty is ready to make the jump into professional football.

As for any potential destinations, there’s one specific team that the Broncos superstar has his eye on.

‘I would love to play for the Cowboys. It would be like a dream come true,’ Jeanty told NBC.

Jeanty is a native of Jacksonville, Florida and was born to a Naval officer – leading him to play football in various places throughout the country and the world (including Italy for a brief time).

But when he told his parents that he’d like to play back in the United States, the Jeanty’s moved to Frisco, Texas – a suburb of Dallas.

Now, it’s highly possible that the college phenom could make a move to the Cowboys.

For starters, Dallas has the 12th overall pick after their lackluster season. After a campaign where they really struggled to find consistency on the ground, the Cowboys could be looking for a running back.

Jeanty is widely considered to be the top halfback prospect in the NFL Draft pool. While recent conventional wisdom dictates that NFL teams should avoid taking running backs in the first round, the Cowboys might be forgiven for using their pick to take Jeanty.

This year, Jeanty racked up 2,601 yards on the ground – just 27 yards short of the all-time college football record held by Hall of Famer Barry Sanders.

While Sanders won the Heisman Trophy at Oklahoma State in 1988, Jeanty came up just short this season – coming second in the voting to Colorado wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter.
