Caleb Williams tricked into thinking Ben Johnson accepted Bears job in wild phone prank

Caleb Williams thought he was talking to his new head coach.

Instead, it was just a couple of kids.

The Bears quarterback appeared to be pranked on Friday by a group of kids who managed to acquire his phone number.

They texted Williams while pretending to be Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson — one of the H๏τtest head coach candidates this cycle.

“Hey Caleb, this is Ben Johnson,” their message read. “Just wanted to reach out ahead of time before it gets released to the media, I will be taking the HC job. Very excited to work with you in the future. Great things.”

Williams seemingly believed it was really Johnson.

“Actually? Ben,” Williams’ alleged reply read.

“Yes,” the kids responded. “I wanted you to be the first to know. We will talk more as the season winds down.”

That’s when Williams got excited.

“Okay cool,” Williams wrote. “Sounds good. I’m def excited for the future! Let’s get this s–t going and turn it around n do what hasn’t been done in years! In the meantime!! F–king go kill! We’ll talk soon!”

Williams then called the kids on FaceTime.

When he realized it wasn’t actually Johnson, Williams smiled and quickly hung up.

One clue would’ve helped Williams — Johnson hadn’t even interviewed with the Bears yet.

Johnson, whose Lions team has a bye in the playoffs this week, had a virtual interview with the Bears on Saturday morning, according to ESPN.

Williams, the No. 1 overall pick in last year’s draft, had an up-and-down rookie year.

He completed 62.5 percent of his pá´€sses for 3,541 yards, 20 touchdowns and six interceptions as well as 489 rushing yards.

The Bears finished with a 5-12 record, however, and fired head coach Matt Eberflus midseason.
