Raiders’ Charles Snowden didn’t know what state he was in during crazy DUI arrest

Raiders defensive end Charles Snowden didn’t know what state he was in during his DUI arrest last month in Nevada, according to video the 8 News Now Investigators obtained on Wednesday.

Snowden, 30, told the Las Vegas Metro police he was “trying to get home” and that he was in Florida at the time of his Dec. 10. arrest, as seen in body cam footage.

“Hey sir, do you know where you are?” one officer said.

“Trying to get home,” Snowden, who was wearing a Santa hat with “Raiders” on it, replied.

Snowden said he was coming from Washington before the officer asked if he knew what state he was in.

“Florida,” Snowden said, nodding his head.

“Do you know what city?” asked the officer.

Snowden shook his head “no.”

One officer was heard saying Snowden was “too drunk to stand” while another officer handcuffed him and put him in the back of a police car.

Snowden’s blood-alcohol level was more than double the legal limit when officers found him asleep and unresponsive in the driver’s seat of a running SUV, according to police documents.

Snowden’s 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee was propped up on a shopping cart in a parking lot, as seen in police body cam footage.

Snowden was in the driver’s seat of a Jeep Grand Cherokee that “had almost rolled off a four-foot retaining wall,” according to a police report the 8 News Now Investigators first obtained. The car’s engine was running, and the gear was in neutral.

“The driver would wake up for a few seconds, look around but not seem to see the officers and fall back asleep,” police said, adding that after 10 minutes, Snowden unbuckled his seat belt, turned the car off and got out of the vehicle.

“No one witnessed him driving, though,” one officer was heard saying after banging on the car window. “He’s freaking drunk or I’m ᴀssuming he’s drunk. What do you think, he’s having a medical episode?”

Another officer not seen in the body cam footage was heard talking, but it’s unclear what was said.

“It’s not open though and we didn’t’ see him driving so what do we do? … I mean as far as arresting him we didn’t witness him driving but you could articulate that he would have to drive to get to this point.”

Police responded to the car after receiving a report about a “suspicious vehicle.”

“Mr. Snowden will be entering a not guilty plea and we will respond in court, which is the appropriate forum,” Snowden’s attorneys David Chesnoff and Richard Schonfeld said in a statement.

“The Raiders are aware of the incident involving Charles Snowden and have been in contact with the NFL and local authorities,” a team spokesperson said in a separate statement. “The club will not comment further as this is a legal matter.”

An arraignment was scheduled for April.
