Jalen Hurts set to practice in major Eagles playoff boost after concussion

Jalen Hurts is returning to the field for the Eagles.

After suffering a concussion in the first quarter against the Commanders on Dec. 22, the Eagles star quarterback has been cleared to practice on Wednesday ahead of their playoff matchup against the Packers.

Hurts has still not cleared concussion protocol, although his availability for Wednesday’s practice points to a strong likelihood he will be available on Sunday.

“Yeah, he’ll be out there today,” coach Nick Sirianni told reporters on Wednesday. “We will get you the injury report after practice, and we’ll see how it goes.”

The final step for Hurts to clear the NFL’s concussion protocol is to practice in full and report no symptoms the next day.

ᴀssuming Hurts gets through without a hiccup and he will be out there for the Wild Card round of the NFL playoffs.

Philadelphia has looked dominant with Hurts in the lineup, going 12-2 in games he finished this season and rating No. 6 in the NFL in yards per pᴀss attempt and third in yards per carry on offense during Weeks 1-15.

The Eagles host the Packers in the 4 p.m. ET slot on Sunday and opened as 3.5-point favorites, but that line has increased a bit to 4.5 points, with the wide expectation being that Hurts will suit up.

ESPN analyst and former NFL QB Dan Orvlovsky had some concern surrounding the Eagles star, speculating that a lack of practice could really hurt his timing.

“I would be pretty concerned as of right now about Jalen Hurts,” Orvlovsky said on the “Pat McAfee Show” on Tuesday. “This is a long time to go without practicing for a quarterback… I’m really interested to see what happens in the next 48 hours.”
