Micah Parsons is using his extra free time this offseason to recruit.
The Cowboys’ star pᴀss rusher made his pitch to Tyreek Hill to join Dallas in the aftermath of the Miami wideout opening the door for his Dolphins’ departure with Sunday’s eye-opening comments.
“@cheetah we can be the fastest duo in the league!!! 🦁🐆we also don’t have state income taxes!” Parsons tweeted Monday afternoon.
The Cowboys will need to revamp their roster this offseason following a disappointing 7-10 campaign just one season after winning the NFC East and earning the NFC’s No. 2 seed.
Coach Mike McCarthy could be on his way out with his contract expiring and it’s well known that owner Jerry Jones loves new, shiny toys.
Hill, 30, would fit that description and he certainly set the stage for his Miami exit after the Dolphins’ disappointing 8-9 season concluded Sunday with a 32-20 road loss to the Jets.
The superstar receiver brazenly discussed how he may be playing elsewhere following his worst season with Miami in his three-year stint with the team.
Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel also hinted at Hill pulling himself out of Sunday’s game, which is obviously a bad look for a team leader in a must-win game.
“This is my first time I haven’t been in the playoffs, man. So, I just got to do what’s best for me and my family,” Hill said. “If that’s here or wherever the case may be, I’m finna open that door for myself. I’m opening the door. I’m out, bro. It was great playing here, but at the end of the day I gotta do what’s best for my career because I’m too much of a compeтιтor to be just out there.”
There certainly will be a list of suitors for Hill should the Dolphins move on from the eight-time Pro Bowler, who has two years remaining on his contract.
Hill, who turns 31 in March, tallied 959 receiving yards and six touchdowns this season while battling injuries after topping 1,700 yards in each of his first two seasons with Miami.
Unfortunately for Parsons, 25, the Cowboys have limited cap space for 2025 and — this is kind of a big one — have yet to hand him a lucrative extension.
Barring an unexpected contract reworking on Hill’s end, the Cowboys could struggle to build a compeтιтive team if they are paying top-of-the-market salaries to two receivers in Hill and star wideout CeeDee Lamb, with quarterback Dak Prescott and potentially Parsons also being paid premium amounts.
And while Parsons earns credit for pitching Hill on Texas not having an income tax, he’s already benefitting from that tax break as a Florida resident.
