Stephen A. Smith tears into Tyreek Hill and accuses him of foul play for wanting to leave Miami

Stephen A. Smith made his distaste for Tyreek Hill’s comments about wanting to leave the Miami Dolphins clear on Monday’s edition of First Take.

The Dolphins’ dreadful season ended with a playoff miss punctuated by a 20-32 loss to the struggling New York Jets on Sunday.

After the sour season finale, Hill suggested that he must leave Miami to compete at a higher level in the NFL.

‘I just got to do what’s best for me and my family,’ Hill told reporters following the loss. ‘If that’s here or wherever the case may be, I’m finna open that door for myself.

‘I’m opening the door. I’m out, bro. It was great playing here, but at the end of the day, I gotta do what’s best for my career because I’m too much of a compeтιтor to be just out there.’

The following morning, Smith ripped into Cheetah for saying he wanted out of the Dolphins.

‘Hell to the no,’ Smith said. ‘Stay your a** right there.’

‘Life’s a little bit different when you ain’t with Patrick Mahomes,’ Smith continued. ‘We tried to tell you. We don’t want to hear about no family now. You got your bag. That ain’t family, bro. Family’s the bag.

‘Once you get the bag, family’s taken care of. This is about you recognizing that life is a little bit different when Patrick Mahomes ain’t throwing you the football.’

Hill wrapped up his third campaign with the Dolphins after six seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs. After two seasons with over 100 receptions and 1,700 yards for a combined 20 touchdowns, Hill’s numbers this year were his lowest since the move.

The wide receiver made 81 catches on 123 targets for 959 yards and six touchdowns.

Miami finished their season with an 8-9 record, sitting 2nd in the AFC East.

After reworking his deal last year, Hill remains under contract for the next two seasons, with salary cap hits of $27.7million (2025) and $51.9m (2026), via OverTheCap.

Cheetah famously asked out of the Chiefs, which led the team to trade him before the 2022 season. Kansas City won two Super Bowls since Hill left and are en route to win their third in a row.
