NFL analyst questions why anyone would ‘invest’ in Aaron Rodgers as bridge QB: ‘Just not a good player’

Aaron Rodgers and the Jets are having a nightmarish season, and one NFL pundit is questioning why any team would want the veteran quarterback next year.

NFL Network’s Brian Baldinger spoke with The Post’s Steve Serby and said he’s not sure who would want to “invest” in Aaron Rodgers right now.

“He’s just not a good player right now,” Baldinger said. “We’ve seen the demise of Peyton [Manning], of Drew [Brees], of Brett Favre. We’re watching the demise of Aaron Rodgers right now. And, just watching him run, he labors when he runs when he has to. His decision-making is questionable. I don’t know why anybody would invest in the player right now.”

Rodgers, in returning from a season-ending Achilles injury last year, has just one game of 300-plus pᴀssing yards this season as the Jets sit at 4-12 before their finale against the Dolphins on Sunday.

He turned 41 in early December and said earlier this week that he wants to take time this offseason to figure out what his football future holds.

He admitted that his future might not include playing for the Jets, who are in line for “change.”

“Just more resigned to the reality of the situation. There’s going to be change here,” Rodgers told reporters. “If I’m a part of the change, I just want make sure everyone knows I have nothing but graтιтude for my time here.

“I’m disappointed about the performance, both myself and as a team, but I’m really thankful for the opportunity. If I feel good coming back and they want to make another run at this, that would be fantastic, but I’m not naïve to the situation we’re in.”

Rodgers has thrown for 3,623 yards and 24 touchdowns this year, which, going into Week 18, are the lowest season totals he’s had in a year in which he’s played at least 16 games.

Baldinger believes a team looking for a veteran quarterback to start games in 2025 might want to look elsewhere.

“He’s just not a good player, he’s not elevating anybody around him right now,” the analyst added. “I think somebody would invest in Kirk Cousins as the bridge quarterback before they would invest in Aaron Rodgers right now.”
