Philadelphia Eagles struck by fresh fears over quarterback Jalen Hurts with playoffs on the horizon

Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is still battling injury with the NFL playoffs fast approaching.

Hurts has been ruled out of Philadelphia’s final regular season game against the New York Giants on Sunday.

The team announced on Friday that the quarterback is still battling concussion and a left finger problem.

Hurts has now missed two weeks of action after suffering a blow to the head against the Washington Commanders on December 22.

The Eagles’ second-string quarterback, Kenny Pickett, is questionable for the game as he tries to shake off a rib injury.

The 13-3 Eagles sit top of the NFC East and Nick Sirianni’s team have already secured the No 2 seed in the playoffs.

That means they are slated to take on the No 7 seed – either the Green Bay Packers or the Washington Commanders – in the first round of the playoffs next week.

‘He’s progressing through the protocol,’ head coach Sirianni said about Hurts, without shedding further light on the quarterback’s progress.

Pickett’s injury also dates back to last month’s loss against Washington. He broke his ribs in the 36-33 defeat before playing through the pain against the Cowboys.

The backup was taken out of the game against Dallas and this week, Ian Book and Tanner McKee have been the only Eagles quarterbacks at practice.

McKee is expected to start against the Giants at Lincoln Financial Field.
