Jets complete interviews with Louis Riddick, Ron Rivera as GM and head coach searches ramp up

The Jets’ search for a new regime is heating up.

Gang Green announced Tuesday that it completed interviews with Louis Riddick and Ron Rivera for general manager and head coach, respectively.

Rivera is the first known person to interview for the head coach role after the team fired Robert Saleh in October and named Jeff Ulbrich the interim bench boss.

The 62-year-old began his coaching career as a Bears ᴀssistant in 1997 but is most known for his two head coaching stints with the Panthers (2011-19) and the Washington Football Team/Commanders (2020-23).

He won AP Head Coach of the Year honors twice (2013 and 2015) with the Panthers, the latter of which came in a year he led the team to a 15-1 record and a Super Bowl appearance.

He did not reach the same heights in Washington, winning one division тιтle without ever going above the .500 mark before he was dismissed after the 2023 season.

Riddick is now the fourth candidate to interview for the GM job — which is being held by Phil Savage on an interim basis — after the Jets talked with Thomas Dimitroff, Jon Robinson and Jim Nagy.

A defensive back in the NFL for six years, Riddick, 55, worked as an executive with both Washington and the Eagles, most recently serving as Philadelphia’s director of pro personnel from 2010-13.

Riddick has now worked at ESPN over the past decade-plus in both the broadcast booth and studio desk as analyst.

The search is being led by Jets owner Woody Johnson and ᴀssisted by the football think tank The 33rd Team, which is helping the team vet and coordinate candidates for the vacant jobs.

The group was founded by ex-Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum.
