Deebo Samuel reveals what it really feels like to lose a Super Bowl

San Francisco 49ers star Deebo Samuel admitted that losing the Super Bowl left him slumping into depression.

The wide receiver, 28, has reached the pinnacle of the NFL on two occasions in recent seasons with the Niners but has failed to lift the Lombardi Trophy every time.

And the wideout descried the pain of losing the big game as one of the worst feelings he has ever endured.

‘Not gonna lie, losing the Super Bowl, it puts you in depression,’ Samuel said during a guest appearance on The St. Brown Podcast. ‘You go months without talking to people, wanting to be seen… Losing the Super Bowl is one of the worst feelings ever.

‘Think about it in our position. We just went through camp, we just went through the whole season, and we got here, we lose, and now you back to work in three weeks. And you’re about to do it all over again. Losing the Super Bowl is crazy. I lost in the Super Bowl twice to the same team.’

San Francisco most recently suffered heartbreak last February when they missed out on glory in an agonizing overtime loss at the hands of back-to-back champions the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Niners fell 25-22 in Las Vegas when the Chiefs clinched a game-winning touchdown in overtime.

The 49ers led in the fourth quarter until Harrison Butker kicked a game-tying field goal in the dying minutes to force the overtime at Allegiant Stadium.

After opting to receive first, the 49ers only managed to put another three points on the board through Jake Moody’s field goal before Mahomes connected with Mecole Hardman on a three-yard touchdown pᴀss to clinch victory for Kansas City.

Samuel’s first Super Bowl defeat came four years earlier when the Niners once again fell victim to Patrick Mahomes and co.

The 49ers once again led in the second quarter only for the Chiefs to go on to score 21 points unanswered in the fourth quarter to win for the 31-20 win.

Samuel won’t have to endure any further heartbreak this year as the 49ers have failed to replicate their success this season.

Amid a slew of injuries to offensive weapons, including Christian McCaffrey and Brandon Aiyuk, the Niners have struggled this year and are set to miss out on the playoffs.

Samuel has also endured personal struggles on the field this season, tallying just 51 receptions for 670 yards and three touchdowns.
