A petrified ladder is hidden in the Baume-les-Messieurs valley

A “petrified” ladder in Baume-les-Messieurs, France

r/interestingasҒUCҜ - a ladder in a cave

We knew about the Sermu ladders which allow access, via the GR59, to a magnificent panorama of the Baume-les-Messieurs valley. The Crançot ladder, at the start of the caves and the Tufs waterfall, also offers another magnificent viewpoint.

In both cases, the climb is long, the difference in alтιтude significant. But there is a third ladder in this valley, which is a curiosity of nature. It is an iron ladder, almost entirely calcified by water and time. It plunges into a natural basin on the course of the Dard.

But where exactly is it? You have to follow the stream between the waterfall and the village. “It is about thirty meters from the path but it is easy to find”, explains a regular of the place, contacted by Le Progrès .

Over time, the minerals solidified on ladder’s surface. Researchers estimate the ladder is roughly 150 years old
