The Repair Shop ‘cancels THREE live tour dates’ after show’s brand was ‘damaged’ by Jay Blades charges

The Repair Shop has reportedly cancelled three of it’s live tour dates for next year after the venues were unsuccessful in selling enough tickets.

Experts from the multi-award-winning BBC show are set to switch out their aprons and muddy boots at the barn for a microphone on stage as they travel the country for their show, The Repair Shop, Secrets From The Barn.

Top stars, including Steve Fletcher, Will Kirk, Lucia Scalisi, and Kirsten Ramsay, are set to take a trip down memory lane and share anecdotes, memories and stories from life inside the barn.

But, after being charged with controlling and coercive behaviour against his estranged wife Lisa Zbozen, Jay Blades was dropped from the live show’s lineup in October.

An insider has since told The Sun that the show’s brand has been ‘damaged’ and tickets ‘haven’t exactly been selling out’ which has led to three dates ‘being cancelled’.

The publication reported that the Newcastle, Glasgow, and Edinburgh shows will no longer be going ahead and no future dates have been rescheduled yet.

A spokesperson for the show told MailOnline: ‘The Repair Shop Live: Secrets from the Barn shows at Glasgow, Edinburgh and Newcastle have been postponed due to unforeseen scheduling issues, but it is looking forward to visiting those areas later in 2025.

‘Tickets for Brighton, Swansea, Bath, Portsmouth, Birmingham, Leicester, Southend, Nottingham, Salford and Sheffield are unaffected and are available through Ticketmaster and local venues.’

The ten unaffected dates, which are going ahead in 2025, are  Birmingham, Andover, Swansea, Bath, Portsmouth, Leicester, Southend, Nottingham, Salford, and Sheffield.

MailOnline has contact representatives for the live show and Jay Blades for comment.

While most fans are excited to finally see their favourite BBC stars in person, many were left ‘disappointed’ by the tour’s choice of location.

Fans flocked to the show’s Instagram to share their upset.

One penned: ‘Nowhere near Cornwall. So disappointing.’

‘No London or Kent.’

‘Boo no where near me. I would of loved to of come.’

‘No London!!’

It is unclear if the BBC will still air their usual series of the show for 2025 now that the stars will be on tour a month before the series typically kicks off.

Season 13 was aired April 10, 2024 at 8pm. Season 14 and its potential release date is still yet to be confirmed by the beeb.

The executive producer of The Repair Shop and managing director of Ricochet, Joanna Ball said: ‘The Repair Shop experts are the most talented, hard-working and dedicated people I’ve ever had the privilege to work with, and they are also the best company.

‘I’m so pleased to be able to take them out on tour around the country to give their fans an opportunity to experience some of the pleasure and camaraderie of the barn.’

‘This tour will give fans a glimpse into life at the barn and the experts skills and stories unlike ever seen before.’

Jay was quietly dropped from the line-up and is noticeably absent from its promo material.

It comes after he was axed from The Repair Shop and some of his other future programmes were scrapped.

Jay has been at the helm of the BBC show – which sees guests bring in treasured items to be transformed – for seven years.

However, it’s said that he has been axed from the upcoming Christmas special of the restoration programme, with show makers already considering replacements.

Creators Ricochet are eyeing up The Repair Shop’s furniture restorer Will Kirk and craftsman Dominic Chinea as potential replacements for Jay, according to The Sun.

The show was the latest in a string of new factual programmes the presenter was set to host and will have seen the presenter explore a series of stately homes.

The four-part series sees the steps of the Bridgeman family and their servants retraced, starting from the Georgian era, through the Victorian and Edwardian times, and up to the 20th Century.

A source told the publication: ‘Everything is up in the air following Blades getting charged, but TV chiefs didn’t want to be seen to act slowly.

‘Until court proceedings have run their course, everything is getting put on hold, and alternative plans are being considered.

‘But The Repair Shop is likely to continue as it’s hugely popular and the feeling is that the show is bigger than any individual.’
