Demi Moore reveals which role ‘scared the c**p out of her’ in emotional H๏τ Ones interview on her 62nd birthday

Demi Moore opened up about which role ‘scared’ her during an emotional appearance on H๏τ Ones this week.

The Substance actress, who was notably chilled while eating the spicy wings on her 62nd birthday, revealed 1990 romance thriller Ghost unnerved her as a young screen star due to the gravity of emotions she would have to portray.

Ghost starred Demi as Molly Jensen, whose partner Sam Wheat (Patrick Swayze) is murdered before he returns as a ghost to save her life.

Demi told host Sean Evans: ‘Definitely Ghost scared the c*** out of me. Also, to be such a young person dealing with the loss of your partner, in reading the script I was so overwhelmed at the kind of grief that I was going to have to tap into.’

Moore’s one-eyed crying in the film left fans in awe but she said ‘I didn’t plan that’

‘I know that there’s this iconic thing about the one eye. I didn’t plan that, I had no control over that. That’s just how it happened.

‘That one kind of help me get over a hurdle of my own. Not that it’s done it always…there’s still emotionally whenever we have to be vulnerable, it is not easy.’

In May Moore shared her thoughts on Channing Tatum potentially developing a remake of the hit film Ghost.

The Magic Mike actor, 44, revealed last year that his production company, Free ᴀssociation, had obtained the rights to the classic 1990 romance thriller that starred Moore, Patrick Swayze and Whoopi Goldberg.

In a new interview with Entertainment Tonight from the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, the actress shared her thoughts on a ‘reinterpretation’ of Ghost.

‘Look, every story in some ways has already been told,’ Moore explained, before adding, ‘The wonderful thing is the different way things can be reinterpreted.’

She continued, ‘I think there are some films that often are better left not touched, and left, and then sometimes there are wonderful surprises in that reinterpretation.’

Though Moore claims that Tatum hasn’t reached out to her since acquiring the film rights, she thinks he has the ‘talent’ to pull off a successful remake.

‘He’s super talented,’ she gushed. ‘I’d be curious to see what he decides to do.’

Tatum previously told Vanity Fair that he wanted to take on the role originated by Swayze in the Jerry Zucker-directed hit, which followed a murdered banker (Swayze) using a New York City medium (Goldberg) to warn his girlfriend (Moore) of a looming threat to her life.

‘But we’re going to do something different,’ he told the publication, before revealing that he felt the original film had some problematic stereotypes.

‘I think it needs to change a little bit.’

The original film received generally positive reviews from critics, with particular praise going towards the score and performances of its A-list cast.

Goldberg, 68, went on to win an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role as NYC-based medium Oda Mae Brown.

In all, it received five Oscar nominations, winning two trophies, including Best Screenplay for Bruce Joel Rubin.

The film was a huge hit with moviegoers, grossing $505.7 million at the worldwide box office against a budget of $22-23 million.

Those huge money numbers helped Ghost earn the distinction of being the highest grossing film of 1990.

The success of the production extended to the home video market by being the most popular rental of 1991 in the United States.

Along with Moore, Swayze, who pᴀssed away in 2009, and Goldberg, the cast also featured Tony Goldwyn, Vincent Schiavelli, Rick Aviles, Armelia McQueen, Gail Boggs, Phil Leeds, Augie Blunt, Stephen Root and Bruce Jarchow.

Moore also said on The Drew Barrymore Show in February that she still has the clay figures she and Swayze made during the film’s iconic pottery sequence.

‘I still have my little pots that I made, which are pitiful,’ Moore told the host. ‘They’re like the saddest looking things.’

So far, there’s no word on when Tatum will begin production on a Ghost remake.
