Hairy Bikers star Si King revealed he was ‘lost for words’ during a recent episode of This Morning as he reflected on the mᴀssive outpouring of love’ for late best friend Dave Myers.

Dave pᴀssed away aged 66 in February, with this co-star by his side following a lengthy battle with an unspecified cancer. 

Si, 58, had joined hosts Dermot O’Leary and Cat Deeley on the show where he rustled up a beef curry H๏τpot, but things soon took an emotional turn when talk soon turned to Dave.

As Si cooked, Dermot took the opportunity to ask about Si’s upcoming The Hairy Bikers: You’ll Never Ride Alone, which is a celebration of Dave’s life which also takes a look back at Hairy Biker’s 25-year career.

Asking about the show, which saw thousands of bikes head on a memorial journey from London to Dave’s hometown of of Barrow-in Furness, Dermot asked: ‘I remember seeing the footage of this 300 or so bikes. How many bikes would do it?’

To which Dave revealed that a whopping 46,000 riders had taken part, leaving Dermot gobsmacked.

The show then cut to a clip of the one-off, hour-long documentary, which airs just before Christmas, with Cat declaring the scene ‘spectacular,’ while Dermot remarked: ‘I’ve got goosebumps’. 

When asked how he felt on that monumental day, Si shared: ‘You know moments in your life when you can’t find the words to describe; there are no superlatives to describe what happened that day.

‘It was community, it was love, it was respect, it was fellowship and a mᴀssive, mᴀssive outpouring of love for my best mate Dave, you know, it was wonderful.’ 

The emotional ride was Si King’s last as a Hairy Biker as he closes the chapter on an incredible 25 years of memories with his biking brother.

Archived and new interviews, along with previously unseen footage, help celebrate Dave’s life, charting a journey that took him around the world, cooking up a storm as one of television’s greatest ever double acts.

It comes after Si paid a tear-jerking tribute to his late The Hairy Bikers’ co-star last month in his first TV interview since his death.  

During an appearance on The One Show, the TV presenter emotionally explained how the spirit of their friendship will live on as he learns to cope with his loss. 

The duo had begun work on their latest book, The Hairy Bikers: Our Family Favourites, before his death, with Si completing it in his honour.

Speaking on the programme he said: ‘It’s the book that Dave and I started before he pᴀssed.’

Si continued: ‘I really wanted to finish it in his honour. It’s all those recipes that have stuck with us throughout the years.

‘Just because Dave’s pᴀssed it doesn’t stop you being a friend. The spirit of our relationship will always be there.

‘It’s been a big loss, I’m coping okay, thank you. It’s a big adjustment. I know Dave would have wanted me to keep pushing on.’

Si and Dave worked very closely together for two decades, creating a number of much-loved cooking TV shows as well as books and live appearances. 

He added: ‘I want to look after the legacy we built because I think it deserves the respect Dave and myself put into it.

‘There will be some pastures new that will come my way I’m sure.’

Their first TV appearance together was The Hairy Bikers’ Cookbook in 2004, which was part cooking show and part travel programme and in the first episode the duo rode the length of Portugal.
