Great British Bake Off viewers were relieved to learn runner up Dylan Bachelet has landed his dream job following a disastrous final episode.
Following a near perfect run on the show including two star baker awards, Dylan crumbled during the show’s grand finale on Tuesday night.
Dylan, 20, was lauded by the judges, Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith, throughout the series for his innovative flavours and flawless presentation.
However, the pressure of the final proved too much for the retail ᴀssistant who delivered less than impressive scones and came in last place in the technical.
Fans admitted they were watching the last episode from behind their hands as Dylan and the other finalists approached the final showstopper.
But it wasn’t meant to be for Dylan, as he failed to impress with his ‘gravity defying’ floating cake inspired by the Italian town of Murano, as he delivered a ‘lumpy’ and ‘concertinaed’ sponge.

Stressed viewers watched as Dylan fell to pieces during the final, where he competed against winner Georgie and fellow runner up Christiaan de Vries.
Harking back to James Acaster’s iconic moment on the celebrity version of the show, one person said Dylan had emulated his breakdown.
During his time on the show, James offered his bake to the judges and said: ‘Started making it. Had a breakdown. Bon appeтιт.’
Others said: ‘I can’t believe Dylan is going to lose this at the final hurdle genuinely worst day of my life’; ‘Spoiler alert: Dylan not winning Bake Off broke my heart. I’m going to bed’; ‘Watching Dylan lose the Bake Off after a great season was gutting’.
During the final moments of the show, paediatric nurse from Carmarthenshire, Georgie, beat fellow finalists Christiaan, 33, and Dylan.
The mother-of-three made history as she is the first Welsh person to win the show and also the first to reach the final.
Georgie looked in shock after her win and was quickly embraced by her husband and children.
She said: ‘I cannot believe I’ve won it. It means everything, it’s just incredible. I can’t believe I’ve won The Great British Bake Off. I’ve always been so self-doubtful.
‘You make excuses and for once I just thought, no I’m going to go for it and put everything into it. I’ve proved to myself that I can do something.’

After her win, judge Prue said: ‘Georgie did what she does best, classic British baking beautifully done and won it, and rightfully too.’
During the show, the three finalists had to make sweet and savoury scones for the signature, afternoon tea for the technical and a three-tier hanging cake for their showstopper.
Georgie impressed the judges on all of her challenges but they were particularly blown away by her hanging cake which was inspired by ‘summer gardens’.
After tasting it, Prue said: ‘That is utterly delicious. It’s got so much filling,’ and also called it ‘soft and luxurious’.
Earlier in the show, Georgie promised Paul Hollywood she would roll down the hill outside the tent if she want and stayed true to her word.
Despite ten weeks of intense compeтιтion, the winner of The Great British Bake Off does not receive a cash prize.
They instead receive the more low key winnings of flowers and a cake stand which Georgie will take back to her farm in Carmarthenshire where she and her family live with ten chickens, five ducks, two dogs and a cat.
Viewers quickly took to X to react to Georgie’s win, writing: ‘Deserved! Congratulations Georgie! You did Wales proud.’
