Candace Cameron Bure revealed her former Full House co-star Dave Coulier is ‘laughing his way’ through cancer diagnosis.
On Monday, the 48-year-old actress — who played D.J. Tanner in the beloved 1987 sitcom — opened up to US Weekly about Coulier’s resilience and sense of humor amid his battle with non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
‘I think a life lesson is just to laugh a lot. We’re seeing that even with Dave Coulier right now — with his cancer diagnosis. He’s laughing his way through it,’ she told the outlet.
‘And we’re all there laughing along with him in support,’ she added.
The actress also said the 65-year old ‘has great positive outlook’ despite the uncertainty he faces.
She shared, ‘Everyone handles it differently. And Dave is a person where laughter is the best medicine. So we’re doing that along with him and I’m glad.’

‘We are a family, it just comes natural [to support each other]. It does,’ she shared. ‘So we’ve got the text chain, we call and we get together when we’re in town and when there’s some special event for someone. We just all show up and support each other.
‘That’s what family does, right? You stick together.’
Since Full House wrapped in 1995, the cast members have actively stayed in touch. Over two decades later when the Fuller House spinoff was released, various original cast members including Cameron Bure and Coulier, got back together.
Cameron Bure’s comments come a month after Coulier announced his shocking cancer diagnosis live on-air via the Today show.
During the candid interview, he confessed that he had been in the process of receiving chemotherapy and underwent three operations as part of his treatment for the ‘aggressive’ form of blood cancer.
He said ‘It has been a rollercoaster ride for sure,’ and quipped that he looked similar to a ‘baby bird’ due to hair loss from chemotherapy.
The actor recalled the moment a ‘golf ball’ sized lump appeared near his groin area, causing his to feel concern.
After ‘a matter of days,’ the lump grew rapidly, leading him to seek out medical attention.
And a series of biopsies and tests confirmed his fear — the growth was cancerous.
‘We biopsied it, we took it out, and they said, “we wish we had better news for you but you have B cell lymphoma, we need to get you into chemotherapy right away,”‘ he said.

According to the Mayo Clinic, B-cell lymphoma is a rare type of cancer that begins in the germ-fighting white blood cells and attacks the skin to create visible growths.
Coulier explained that his diagnosis felt like ‘a gut punch’ and was difficult to accept initially because of how quickly the situation progressed.
‘Once that settled in, that was a gut punch,’ he said. ‘But there was still another hurdle, we had to find out what the staging was so they went into my bone marrow and we got good news that day that it had not spread.’
