Jay Leno back in Burbank, California as former Tonight Show host nurses injuries from fall down hill

Jay Leno was back in Burbank, California, the city where he hosted The Tonight Show for more than two decades, as he attended a comedy show Sunday.

The 74-year-old star continued to sport notable injuries about two weeks after he says he fell down a hill after performing at Greenhouse, Pennsylvania’s Palace Theatre November 15.

Leno, who hosted NBC’s The Tonight Show from 1992 until 2014, continued to show deep bruising on the left side of his face following the accident, in which he says he fell 60 feet.

The comedy icon was clad in a navy blue jacket over a light blue ʙuттon-up top with blue jeans and black shoes.

Leno was seen headed to his vehicle in a parking garage on the chilly afternoon in Southern California.

Leno taped The Tonight Show from the Burbank studios where NBC was formerly based out of until Jimmy Fallon took over the show in 2014, as the show returned to New York City after four decades.

Leno has been seen in public on multiple occasions in the weeks since the accident, as he was pictured at the Burbank In-N-Out Burger Thursday.

This past Friday, Leno hosted an amfAR benefit at the Wynn Las Vegas, saying on the red carpet that he was ‘feeling good’ amid his recovery from the accidental fall, adding, ‘I’ve got a broken wrist, but I’m all right.’

Leno told TMZ last week that he suffered the injury while he was seeking to take a shortcut to a restaurant that was inconveniently located at the bottom of a hill.

The classic car enthusiast said that he ‘didn’t have a car’ at the time, and wanted to avoid ‘a mile-and-a-half’ walk to the eatery.

‘I said, “Well, the hill doesn’t look that steep – it’s about 60-70 feet – let me see if I can go down the hill.”‘

Leno said at that point, he fell down: ‘Boom, boom, boom – I rolled down the hill, hit my head on a rock, knocked me in the eye.’

Leno remained a trooper in the wake of the accident, making his show the following day at Highland, California’s Yaamava Theater.

Leno has famously only lived on the money he makes from his standup work, as he says he’s never spent a cent of the cash he made working on The Tonight Show.

He told CNBC in 2016 that he ‘always had two incomes’ in his professional endeavors, tracing back to his time working at a car dealership before his breakout in show business.

‘I’d bank one, and I’d spend one,’ he said. ‘When I was younger, I would always save the money I made working at the car dealership, and I would spend the money I made as a comedian.

‘When I started to get a bit famous, the money I was making as a comedian was way more than the money I was making at the car dealership, so I would bank that and spend the car dealership money.’

Leno said that he continued the same tack when he took over for Johnny Carson as host of The Tonight Show, a job in which he made $30 million annually at one point.

‘When I got The Tonight Show, I always made sure I did 150 gigs a year so I never had to touch the principal,’ Leno said. ‘I’ve never touched a dime of my Tonight Show money – ever.’

He explained of his mentality: ‘I put my money in a hammock and say, “You relax. I’m going to go work.” And when I come back, I put some more money in the pile.’
