Sammi ‘Sweetheart’ Giancola revealed she suffered a ‘devastating’ miscarriage during an episode of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation, which aired on Thursday night.
While reflecting on her recent engagement to fiancé Justin May, the 37-year-old reality star revealed he popped the question following a failed round of in vitro fertilization (IVF), which left them both heartbroken.
During an emotional confessional, the TV personality told viewers that she had become pregnant, but the embryo ultimately didn’t take, leading her to miscarry.
‘This has been a very long process, it’s been a lot of sH๏τs, it’s been a lot of hormones,’ Giancola recalled. ‘Just the thought of even being pregnant was such a magical moment for me, and just to have that taken away—it’s devastating for me.’
Giancola went on to praise May, who she began dating in 2021, for being so ‘positive and uplifting’ following their loss.
‘He’s so special to me, and I just am so thankful for him. He’s been by my side through this whole thing. I just love him,’ she gushed.

Giancola revealed that the same night, he took her out to a birthday dinner with her friends and family, before getting down on one knee and asking her to be his wife.
‘I am just like, in awe,’ she recalled of her reaction. ‘I’ve dreamt of this moment my entire life.’

She continued: ‘I feel like the luckiest girl in the world. ‘Justin coming into my life made my life a million times better. He is just everything I could ever ask for in a man. He’s patient. He’s support and I just love and adore him so much.’
In November, she told E! News that she and her husband-to-be were ‘going through’ the IVF process together.
‘He is so supportive through the whole thing. He’s very positive. He keeps me going and he couldn’t be a better partner with this all. He’s just amazing,’ she said.
Around that time, she predicted IVF was going to be ‘a long road’ and that she was ‘dealing with it and whatever happens next will happen.’
Giancola announced her engagement on April Fool’s Day.
‘Life update: Fiancé ♥️ 3.16.24,’ she captioned the post, which showed her flashing her engagement ring. ‘The easiest question I’ve ever answered.. happiest & luckiest girl in the world. I’ll love you forever and then some.’

Previously, Giancola had an on-off relationship with castmate Ronnie Ortiz-Magro during Jersey Shore’s original run from 2009 to 2012.
They ultimately called it quits for good in 2016.
A year later, she began dating YouTuber and entrepreneur Christian Biscardi.
She and Biscardi got engaged in 2019 and planned to marry in 2020, before the COVID-19 pandemic upended their plans.
In July, Giancola confirmed publicly that they split in a social media post.
