Rob Gronkowski thinks Jon Gruden could save Aaron Rodgers and the Jets

The Jets are cleaning house and Rob Gronkowski has an intriguing savior.

Gronkowski said on the “Up and Adams Show” that the Jets should turn to Jon Gruden as the answer after firing coach Robert Saleh and general manager Joue Douglas midseason.

“Jon Gruden would be a good choice,” Gronkowski said when asked about the messy situation.

In this scenario, Gruden would join forces with veteran quarterback Rodgers — although there’s speculation Rodgers may not be back with the team next season.

“That’s how Aaron Rodgers stays with the Jets,” Gronkowski said. “He has to have a general manager and head coach that comes in and wants Aaron Rodgers as well.”

The Jets are in the midst of a miserable season, with the 40-year-old Rodgers looking his age and a vaunted defense that has looked decidedly average.

The team’s failures led to Saleh’s firing after Week 5, replaced on an interim basis by defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich, and Douglas being axed Tuesday.

Gruden recently signed a content deal with Barstool Sports, but does have an out if a coaching opportunity arises.

He resigned in 2021 from the Raiders after emails leaked of him using homophobic and misogynistic language.

Would you want Jon Gruden as next Jets coach?

Gruden is suing the NFL for selectively leaking emails that led to his forced resignation from the Raiders.

There had been no buzz about him returning to the NFL until his name started popping up recently.

Boomer Esiason said on his WFAN radio show earlier this month that Gruden would be back in the NFL before long.

“I can confirm that he definitely wants to get back in, 100 percent,” Esiason said. “I can also confirm — and I believe this to be true, this is my opinion after speaking to at least two different that are involved in coaching searches and things of that nature — that there are teams that are interested in him. And if it’s not year, it’s next year. But he’s coming back, he’s definitely coming back.”

Gruden, 61, led the Buccaneers to a Super Bowl triumph in 2003.

He later worked for years in the “Monday Night Football” booth before taking the Raiders job in 2017.
