Miley Cyrus has provided a glimpse into her private relationship with Maxx Morando, her boyfriend of three years.

Miley, 32, is six years older than Maxx, 26, – and while the age gap is not particularly large, it is apparent in several aspects of their life. 

In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Miley revealed how their upbringings shine a light on their generational differences.

Miley, a millennial, said that while she grew up with a desktop computer that she shared with her siblings, her Gen-Z boyfriend had a laptop as a child.

She also noted his reliance on the social media platform Reddit, which he has relied on heavily to train their dog.

Despite their differences, the A-lister and her boyfriend seem just like any other couple, bonding over their shared love of music, memes sent by Maxx, and even working together on the Miley’s new music.

‘He looks at life really differently than I do,’ she said with fondness. 

‘He grew up with a laptop. I had a desktop computer that I shared with my brothers and sisters. … Honestly, he’s raised our dog off Reddit. I’m like, Are you sure we’re supposed to be doing this? And he’s like, On Reddit it says blah, blah, blah,’ she said. 

Despite those differences, Miley says they have a lot in common.

‘He’s very similar to me. We just don’t take life too seriously,’ she said.

Miley has even learned about new music through her boyfriend, with her playlist currently containing tunes from ‘the coolest kid in Brooklyn’s music’ thanks to Maxx.

The couple can at times be found enjoying ‘a song that we think is kind of cringe, but we love it’ such as Train’s Drops of Jupiter.

Maxx, a musician like Miley who plays drums for the rock band Liily, has also played a creative role in his girlfriend’s life.

He ᴀssisted in writing her upcoming song Something Beautiful and produced numerous songs on her new album of the same name.

Miley says she has a tendency to collaborate with those close to her: ‘I worked with my dad forever. That’s how me and my ex-husband met each other. I’ve always worked with the people that I love. And Maxx just inspires me so much,’ she said.

Miley and Maxx were first linked romantically in 2021, and moved in together in February 2024, according to People. 

A source told the outlet in June that Miley has found joy and contentment with Maxx. 

‘Miley is incredibly happy with Maxx. Her life with him is very normal and calm. She’s truly thriving,’ the insider said.

In February, an insider told the outlet just how ‘good’ the relationship has been for Miley.

‘Miley has changed a lot in the past couple of years. She seems more calm and harmonious. Everyone loves Maxx. He’s a great guy. She is very happy with him. He’s private and doesn’t like being in the press. It’s been good for her,’ the source said. 

Miley was previously married to actor Liam Hemsworth from 2018 to 2020 and she subsequently dated singer Cody Simpson for 10 months. 

She will next be releasing a visual album, Something Beautiful, next year, according to Harper’s Bazaar.
