The Giants have given up on Daniel Jones, and oddsmakers are following suit.
Sitting at an embarrᴀssing 2-8, the Giants benched their starting quarterback in favor of third-stringer Tommy DeVito, who provided a spark for Big Blue last season.
Although oddsmakers moved the line negatively for the Giants and further in favor of the Buccaneers, at least one bookmaker isn’t totally sure how much this affects the actual game.
“This game opened at Giants +3 and moved to Giants +5 following the news that Tommy DeVito would get the start,” DraftKings‘, Director of Sports Operations, told The Post. “The two-point difference is based on the additional experience Daniel Jones has, but we don’t see a huge drop-off. DeVito had some good moments stepping in last year, so we’re comfortable with the adjustments here.”
DeVito took over for the Giants last year when Jones went down with a neck injury, going 3-3 as a starter and costing New York a chance to draft one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL Draft, Jayden Daniels or Drake Maye.
The two rookie starters are making waves as elite young signal-callers who are giving their franchises plenty of reasons for optimism.
Washington sits in second in the NFC East with a 7-4 record after going just 4-13 last year.
New England is also looking promising behind Maye despite being 3-8 this year after they concluded the 2023 season at 4-13.
The Giants are hoping for similar success this offseason as they look to potentially draft a new quarterback.
Jones will presumably be cut after this season and look to latch onto a new team after being drafted by New York in 2019.
