Peter Andre breaks down in tears as he reveals his feelings are still ‘raw’ after the death of his beloved brother Andrew 11 years ago

Peter Andre broke down in tears on Tuesday as he opened up about the shock of losing his beloved brother Andrew 11 years ago.

Andrew pᴀssed away in 2012 aged 54 after a brave battle with kidney cancer, leaving his younger brother Peter and the rest of the family devastated.

Now the singer, 51, has admitted his feelings are still ‘raw’ after previously having a ‘horrific breakdown’ following his brothers pᴀssing.

Speaking to Abbey Clancy on her Exhibit A podcast, Peter explained how people won’t understand the loss until they have been through it themselves.

He said: ‘I said to my other brother, there are only two things in life and you never experience it, until you experience it, and the one is mourning and to lose someone and the other, is a birth of a child and you can never explain those feels.

‘People say things heal over time but if I could explain it in a physical way is, if you lose a limb you learn to live without it but life is never the same.

‘When I lost him I had a horrific breakdown and the doctors told me it was mourning.

‘I couldn’t talk about it, I had to leave, I couldn’t have pictures of him. 11 years later I have to say I am fine talking about it, I still don’t love seeing pictures.

‘But what does change is I remember the fun things and there are certain images that will haunt me forever from towards the end which I wouldn’t wish that grief on anybody.’

Peter went on to say that most people can get their head around losing their parents as they get older but it is shocking to lose a sibling.

He continued: ‘What I did with my brother was that I didn’t expect it. My mum has never gotten over it and the Parkinson’s, she started to decline straight after his death.

‘The only thing that is going to help with eventually losing my parents is that I know whats going to happen whereas for my brother I didn’t know.’

Fighting back tears, the father-of-five said: ‘When he pᴀssed away I was not prepared. When they told us, we never told him.

‘Wow man it has been such a long time and you think of things and it is not nice. Do you ever get fine with it, I don’t know. I’m sorry I thought I had that.

‘I haven’t been asked about that in years and I was so sure it wouldn’t bother me but you’ve made me so comfortable but I didn’t realise how raw things can be.’

Andrew was diagnosed with kidney cancer in February 2012 and spent months undergoing chemotherapy, before tragically pᴀssing away in December of the same year.

Peter had postponed his tour to spend time with his brother at the whole family was at his bedside in his final moments.

At the time a spokesperson told the Daily Mirror: ‘Peter is devastated. He was very, very, very close to his brother. This is the first family member Peter has experienced losing.’

The representative then added that Andre ‘needs time to grieve’.

Peter’s latest podcast appearance comes after he and revealed he is thinking about doing a podcast with his family, Junior, 19, Princess, 17, Amelia, 10, Theo, seven and wife Emily.

He told OK! magazine: ‘We’ve been asked a few times to do one as a family and I think it could be the right time. Even though we are all super busy, this would be fun.

‘We need to decide if it’ll just be audio or video. All the kids will be involved including baby Arabella, so watch this space.’
