Drew Barrymore learned the hard way that pal Lucy Liu will always have her back.
On the Monday episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, the Red One star revealed she once found her Charlie’s Angels co-star hiding in the bushes outside her house.
The story came about when Barrymore, 49, credited Red One star Kiernan Shipka, 25, with making her ‘much more of a dating optimist,’ after they shared a girls’ night together.
The divorced mom of two then turned to Liu, 55, telling her ‘I was thinking, literally, about this time where I came over to your house and I was gonna spend the night ’cause I had just broken up with someone, and I was depressed,’ she said.
Barrymore then turned to the audience and explained, ‘There’s nothing better in heartbreak than your girlfriends. I don’t know what it is for guys, I hope it’s your guy friends,’ she said to loud applause from the audience.
She then returned to the story, revealing Liu had invited her over and offered to take her out for a drink.

‘If you don’t remember,’ she said to her longtime pal.
She then addressed the camera, ‘I found her hiding in my bushes.’ Then both women burst into laughter at the recollection.
‘She rang the gate,’ Liu continued, ‘and she was hiding in the bushes and I came out and I was like, “I don’t see anyone here,” and you kind of came out of the bushes with leaves in your hair and you’re like, “I don’t want him to see me here.”
Liu said she wondered to herself what the Smile 2 actress was doing but told her to ‘get in the house!’
The two old friends did not say when the incident happened or from whom the nervous star was trying to hide.
