Cher opened up about her brief marriage to ex-husband Gregg Allman in her new book, Cher: The Memoir — Part One, explaining why she initially filed for divorce after nine days. “I didn’t know whether my relationship with Gregory would last or not. I was living each day as it came. Then I found out I was pregnant, and we decided to get married,” she wrote. According to Cher, the ceremony was “arranged within a few days.” The twosome went to Las Vegas to exchange vows and flew “straight back home” after the whirlwind wedding. Cher went on to claim that she found a “plastic bag full of white powder” in Allman’s belongings, which was the final straw for the pop star. She filed for divorce shortly after being told by friends that Allman was planning to end their marriage. They soon reconciled but eventually divorced in 1979.
