‘I never knew what the show was until I went on and I was like ‘wow, I want to do that again’ and I did in South Africa. It’s one of the best shows and it shows who you are.
‘People got to know the real side of me and I’m a fun character, a very calm and chilled person and I’m just like everyone else.
‘I gained a lot of new fans after the show because people saw the real Amir Khan, they didn’t see no Amir Khan at a press conference or when I had a fight coming up where you’re anxious to get into the ring and go to war. It was a great show for me.’
Discussing his viral moment where he and TV personality Iain Lee ate all the strawberries after winning the Dingo Dollar Challenge, Amir admitted he was ‘shocked’ by the reaction but finds it ‘very funny’ now.
He said: ‘I was very shocked because I thought I was getting strawberries as a present and I got made to be one of the biggest strawberry fans ever.
‘I’m not a big strawberry fan, I eat them of course but the way they made it out, it was as if ‘Amir Khan loves strawberries!’.
‘They [his campmates] blamed the other person, and I was little silly for letting him take the blame but it was more funny than anything else, and looking back at it now it was a very funny scene that will always be remembered now.’
It comes after Ant and Dec welcomed the new campmates into jungle on Sunday night for the first episode of the 2024 series.

And PR expert Riley Gardiner has now estimated how much this year’s stars are being paid in an interview with Ok! Magazine.
Starting with the lowest fees he believes Radio 1 DJ Dean McCullough will have been offered up to £60,000 for the show.
Next DJ and TV presenter Melvin Odoom is thought to be receiving a fee of around £90,000.
Ex boxer Barry McGuigan could scoop £100,000 while Loose Women’s Jane Moore could earn around £120,000 for her stint.
Alan Halsall from Coronation Street could be getting a payment from ITV bosses of between £100,000 to £150,000 it has been estimated.
Riley told the publication: ‘Soap stars are often jungle favourites since they bring a steady fanbase and relatable charm.
‘Alan’s been on Corrie for ages, so he’s a familiar face, and his down-to-earth vibe would make him a strong addition.’
Podcaster GK Barry and McFly singer Danny Jones are thought to be getting the same amount as Alan with around £150,000 too.

Moving up the scale former Strictly professional Oti Mabuse is thought to be a getting a £200,000 fee according to the publication, while N-Dubz star Tulisa is estimated to be receiving around the same amount.
But it is Coleen Rooney who is thought to bring in an eye-watering amount – with previous reports stating her fee is around £1.5million which would make it the biggest in the show’s history.
However expert Riley believes it could be lower saying: ‘She’s riding a wave of media interest with the whole ‘Wagatha Christie’ saga, so the show would need to dig deep into its pockets to bring her in – think £500,000 to £600,000, at least.
‘Coleen’s public image is strong right now, and people are genuinely curious about her, so she’d definitely pull in a lot of viewers.’
