Josh Allen’s insane touchdown run helps Bills hand Chiefs first loss

The Chiefs have finally been beaten.

Josh Allen’s 26-yard run in the fourth quarter helped lead the Bills to a 30-21, handing the Chiefs their first loss since Christmas Day last year.

The last team to beat Kansas City was the Raiders in a 20-14 defeat at Arrowhead Stadium.

The AFC showdown had the nail-biting finish that football fans had hoped for as the Chiefs flirted with a comeback after trailing for most of the game.

Down by just two late in the fourth quarter, a stop on fourth-and-2 would have given the Chiefs back the ball with plenty of time for Patrick Mahomes to make some magic happen.

Instead, with the Bills clinging to a 23-21 lead, Allen turned a QB scrambling into a highlight reel moment.

The Buffalo quarterback found a hole and busted through it as four Chiefs defenders missed tackles and then Allen trucked his way through a fifth player on his way into the end zone.

The touchdown and subsequent extra point put the Bills up by nine, essentially sealing the win.

The Bills ended any hope of a miracle for the Chiefs when Terrel Bernard intercepted a pᴀss intended for Travis Kelce with 1:17 left on the clock.

Sunday’s game in Western New York was likely a preview of a matchup to come in the playoffs between the Bills and Chiefs, two teams that have become quite familiar with one another in the postseason.

The CBS cameras picked up Mahomes telling Allen after the game, “We’ll do it again, baby.”

“It’s another Week 11 win. Knowing how things usually play out we’ll probably see this team again at some point. We have to get there first,” Allen told CBS after the game.

Ironically, the Chiefs’ first and final drive ended in a Bills interception, with Taylor Rapp picking off Mahomes’ first pᴀss attempt of the game and led to Buffalo’s first touchdown of the day.

Mahomes put the Chiefs in front with an early second-quarter TD pᴀss to Xavier Worthy, but a James Cook rushing touchdown on the Bills following drive gave them back the edge.

The two AFC rivals traded the lead again when the Chiefs went up by one off a touchdown and the Bills moved ahead 16-14 with a 33-yard field goal at the end of the first half.

The Bills had jumped to a 23-14 lead when Noah Gray caught a short touchdown pᴀss with 7:53 left in the game to cut it to 23-21, but that’s when Allen answered back with his own heroics.

“Appreciate coach McDermott for trusting the offense going out there,” Allen said. “I was just trying to make a play, help our team win a football game. Some things we want to clean up. Some throws I wish I had back, but we’re going into the bye week 9-2. We’ll take it.”
