Nick Bosa has confirmed that his sack celebration was an homage to Donald Trump

Nick Bosa has addressed his Donald Trump-inspired sack celebration for the first time since last weekend.

After taking down Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield on Sunday, Bosa mimicked Trump’s now-famous dance move from the campaign trail, which he often did to the hit song ‘Y.M.C.A.’

And on Wednesday, the pᴀss-rusher – who was recently fined for wearing a MAGA cap on TV – confirmed that the dance was a nod to the new president-elect.

‘I think you know the answer to that question,’ he said, via the San Francisco Chronicle. ‘All the guys wanted me to do it. I wasn’t even going to do it, but the boys reminded me. And it was fun.’

The tribute to the incoming Commander in Chief was apparently noticed by Trump, who wrote on Truth Social, ‘NICK BOSA IS A GREAT PLAYER.’

After a win over the Cowboys earlier this season, Bosa crashed his teammates’ interview on Sunday Night Football and pointed to a white and gold ‘Make America Great Again’ baseball cap.

He was ultimately fined $11,255 for the stunt, as the league has a rule which prevents players from displaying messages ‘which relate to political activities or causes.’

Notably, Bosa changed out of his MAGA cap for his postgame press conference after that Cowboys game, and declined to speak much about his decision to wear it when pressed by a reporter.

‘I’m not gonna talk too much about it, but I think it’s an important time,’ he said on the podium – with a different cap on his head.

He was also asked if he had been tempted in the past to speak more about his political beliefs.

‘It’s definitely a little easier nowadays, but no, I don’t feel to inclined to do that,’ he said.

‘It’s just a different climate.’

Bosa has been a public Trump supporter for some time, as he previously tweeted messages of support for him before he was drafted by the 49ers in 2019.
