Molly-Mae Hague struggles to answer what her Maebe clothing line is made from after claiming she ‘doesn’t like wearing fast fashion anymore’ – just a year after quitting £5m PLT role

Molly-Mae Hague struggled to answer what the items in her Maebe collection are made from in her recent Vogue interview.

The entrepreneur, 25, who quit her £5million-a-year PrettyLittleThing creative role in June 2023, also admitted she ‘doesn’t like fast fashion anymore’.

Mother-of-one Molly claimed she hasn’t worn fast-fashion items in the ‘last two years’, despite only giving up the PLT job a year ago.

Since launching her first clothing brand, Molly received backlash from shoppers who claimed the website did not detail what any of the clothes were actually made of.

During her interview with the publication, journalist Sirin Kale claimed Molly still failed to disclose what the clothing is made from, and only knew that they have factories in Turkey and China.

Molly said: ‘I mean, I’m sure I can give you the details of the certifications that they all have, because I was very strict on, obviously, like, the kind of guidelines they’d need to adhere to.’

Responding to claims that her collection are made from synthetic fabrics, Molly said: ‘[It] isn’t the case at all, quite the opposite.

‘I was quite surprised that people thought that I was going to come with a fast-fashion price point and that kind of product, because I’ve actually not worn fast fashion for a really long time now, probably the last two years.’

While Molly couldn’t answer where the items were made, she made it clear she is over fast-fashion and has moved onto luxury designer items.

She said: ‘Designer stuff obviously I buy. I am not at that stage yet of getting gifted designer.’

The interviewer tells her that it reminds her of Cher Horowitz’s closet in the ’90s classic

‘Mmm,’ she replied. ‘That’s iconic.’

Molly added: ‘I don’t particularly wear fast fashion now but that’s not to say that I don’t understand why girls do. I understand that not everyone can afford to shop brands that use all recycled materials.’

The influencer also revealed the very out of character thing she did in the hours after she called off her engagement to ex fiancé Tommy Fury.

The Maebe founder and the professional boxer, 25, who share daughter Bambi, 22 months, announced their shock split on Instagram in August after five years.

In her split statement, Molly said their split came as a ‘shock’ and said she ‘never imagined their story would end in the way it did’.

Since their break up, Tommy has been accused of cheating on the mother-of-one – claims which he strongly denies.

Molly, who has made it clear she hates drinking alcoholic beverages, has revealed she drank a glᴀss of rosé after she was whisked to Soho Farmhouse by friends to blow off some steam.

It wasn’t until she realised that she ‘hates getting drunk’ that Molly popped the beverage down.

In a new interview with Vogue magazine, Molly spoke about the awful couple of hours shortly after her split.

She shared: ‘[I] had a few days where I thought, “I don’t really know how I’m going to get through this.

‘It’s literally like four friends. That’s about it, really. It just works best that way, because then you know the people that are around you are genuinely there for the right reasons.’

Previous reports claimed Tommy ‘cheated on Molly with a Danish woman he met’ on a holiday in North Macedonia. Tommy denies all cheating claims.

Addressing the rumours to The Mail in an interview, Tommy admitted: ‘It is proper love. Do I still love Molly? 100 per cent. I will love her until my final breath.’

‘I know what I have to do in order to resolve things. And that’s down to me. Nobody else can do that other than me.’

Addressing the rumours he said: ‘All the allegations that were made of me recently are completely false. The truth will come out in time and when it does I think a lot of people might regret their actions and unkind words.

‘What the public thinks is going on isn’t what is going on. It’s not something I envisaged happening, but it didn’t come out of nowhere. It’s a thing that was there previously to all this happening, but the only people who know what is going on in our relationship is me and Molly.’

Meanwhile, Molly has been focusing on her clothing line, which launched in September, telling MailOnline she was looking forward to a ‘new era’ in her life after the split.

In the exclusive interview the influencer said she felt ’emotional’ but was channeling all her energy into the couple’s one-year-old daughter, Bambi, and her new clothing line Maebe.

She told of how the past six months have been a juggling act and she has found parenting as well as running her existing businesses ‘tricky.’

But navigating the launch of her fashion label alongside the end of her five-year relationship has given Molly the chance to focus on the next chapter as she admits: ‘It was really good timing for this to happen for me. It has all just aligned perfectly.’

Molly told MailOnline: ‘When I became a mum, I changed a lot as a person and different things became important to me in terms of fashion, it was the right time to launch Maebe. I was really ready to sink my teeth into something new.

‘I have a really good feeling about this new era of my life and think it’s going to be so special and a great thing for me to focus on and put my time into as well as being a mum to Bambi.

‘It was really good timing for this to happen for me. It has all just aligned perfectly really. I am so excited about it… I really do have an amazing feeling about the brand. I see Maebe having a huge future.’

She added: ‘I know if I make the right steps with it and I do this well, I do genuinely see it becoming really huge and being one of those brands that everybody knows and that’s my dream and my goal.’

The launch of Molly’s brand has been three years in the making after her plans were put on hold following the birth of Bambi in January 2023.

It is a landmark moment in Molly’s career after she spent years lending her name to brands such as Beauty Works and PrettyLittleThing, where she even stepped up as creative director in 2021.
