Vernon Kay in awkward moment with BBC Breakfast’s Naga Munchetty after he slams unprofessionalism on TV during live interview

Vernon Kay left BBC Breakfast host Naga Munchetty looking unimpressed after he slammed unprofessional on live TV, while she interviewed him live on Friday.

Vernon, 50, appeared on the early morning show alongside Mel Giedroyc, 56, ahead of them both hosting Children In Need.

Naga’s co-host Charlie Stayt, 62, said how the long-running live TV telethon was often filled with an ‘air of chaos’ and mistakes during transmission.

However Vernon hit back saying:  ‘My opinion is it’s live television and when people say “sorry it’s gone wrong, but it’s live television” I don’t think there’s an excuse when it’s live television’.

Naga, 49, looked stunned as she turned to the camera sating: ‘Well that’s us told!’.

Charlie laughed, admitting that something went wrong on BBC Breakfast every morning.

Vernon then seemingly tried to smooth things over, saying: ‘No but this isn’t an entreatment show, it’s a news show so you come in and you’ve got to deliver the news and pacts on point, so I doubt you rehearse all your items’.

It comes after The One Show’s Alex Jones left viewers blown away as she fought back tears after a gruelling Children In Need challenge and admitted ‘it’s so hard’.

The presenter and her co-host Roman Kemp were joined by Star Wars actress Daisy Ridley and Emily, a member of the Children in Need challenge team on Wednesday’s instalment of the BBC chat show.

Emily, from north London, who has cerebral palsy and relies on a wheelchair and walking sticks to get around, had the host welling up as she spoke about the gruelling challenge she completed for the children’s charity.

The 21 year old took on The Long Walk in Windsor as part of BBC Children in Need and The One Show’s fundraiser – The Challenge Squad.

The Long Walk in Windsor takes a fully mobile person around three hours to complete and starts from the castle gates at the end of Park Street, ending at the Copper Horse statue of King George III.

However, it took Emily three days to complete the walk down the iconic tree-lined avenue due to her mobility issues.

She was joined on the final stretch by the Duchess of Edinburgh who came to show her support before heading to the studio to sit down with Alex and Roman.

Visibly overwhelmed with emotion, Alex tried to convey to the viewers just how big of an achievement this was for Emily and how hard it would have been for her.

She said: ‘You can’t even see on camera, I don’t think, but when I watched you today, gosh, doing the long walk, honestly, it’s so hard. It’s so hard!

‘I think it’s one of the hardest challenges I’ve seen on Children in Need and you did it. How does it feel now that you’ve taken it on and you’ve absolutely conquered it?’

To which Emily responded: ‘It feels so good to have completed it because there was a part of me that really thought I couldn’t, especially because I got sick just before. But I feel amazing to have completed it and I’m really proud of myself.’

Emily’s bravery and tenacity struck a cord with audiences across the country who took to social media to congratulate her, saying: ‘Well done Emily!! What a brave, courageous young lady. Many congratulations to her on such an incredible achievement.’

One wrote: ‘Well done lᴀss. You’re a superstar!’

Another post read: ‘Just cried at Emily on The One Show. What an incredible girl.’

BBC Children in Need will air at 7pm on BBC One and iPlayer on November 15.
